Examples of Payments to Surgeon for Insertion of Nasal Airway Device

Payments reflect variation in policies, including differential payments for contracting and non-contracting practices, deductibles, co-pays, etc. However, no carrier, which has honored the fee, has ever automatically reduced the charge. That is in contrast to the surgical procedure(s).

Most carriers are honoring this charge. If not, quickly appeal. Next, we explain “how.”

Currently, payments to surgeons of up to $875 are being reported. Reltok Nasal Products, LLC has no control nor specific recommendations re surgeon’s fees.

These proofs of payment exemplify the validity of the surgeon submitting a proper and reasonable fee for his additional time and skill. Only the surgeon is capable of insertion; the anesthesia specialist is not qualified to do so.

These examples are historical and demonstrate a several year past history of satisfactory insurance payments and demonstrate that insurers do not “ reduce “ or “ cut” the charge submitted for the airway insertion.

The insurance industry practice of valuing “50% for the second procedure and 25% for the third procedure….” is not applied by insurers for payment for airway insertion. Because insurers understand, from the form we provide you to include in the claim submission, that the insertion of the airway is an independent surgeon service, unrelated to the surgical exercise. The airway has no physical connection to the septum or other operated-upon tissue and hence has no bearing on the outcome. The Reltok Clear-Flo™ Nasal Airway is an adjunct to the anesthesia service, not a surgical device.
